Summary of the April 2025 Webinar

As an organisation, THRIVE Project endeavours to guide humanity towards a more thrivable future. We had the privilege of hosting both these speakers as guest presenters for our webinar.

Cameron Price –
“Nature-based Solutions for Climate Mitigation and Resilience”

In a compelling presentation, Cameron Price discussed Nature-based Solutions, and how they can take advantage of ecosystems’ regenerative abilities to address climate change effectively. Specifically, he explores practical ways of mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening community resilience, and protecting biodiversity, providing valuable insights into these initiatives and empowering the audience with actionable knowledge for building climate-resilient, thriving societies.

Dr. Dayana Mathew –
“Harnessing Ocean-Climate Synergies for Climate Change Mitigation”

The second speaker, Dr. Dayana Mathew, highlighted how the ocean, which covers over 70% of the Earth’s surface, plays a critical role in regulating the global climate. As it absorbs more than 90% of excess heat and approximately 1/4 of human-made carbon dioxide emissions, the ocean is a powerful ally in climate change mitigation. Simultaneously, ocean ecosystems offer natural solutions for adaptation, especially for vulnerable coastal communities.
Her presentation explores the vital synergies between ocean and climate systems, highlighting how ocean-based solutions can enhance global efforts in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
