Summary of the March 2025 Webinar

As an organisation, THRIVE Project endeavours to guide humanity towards a more thrivable future. We had the privilege of hosting these three speakers as guest presenters for our webinar.

Mr. Abdul Khurshid Bhatti –
“The Nadi Filter: An Innovative Safe Drinking Water Solution”

In a compelling presentation, Mr. Abdul Khurshid Bhatti discussed an issue affecting many rural communities in developing nations – a lack of safe, potable drinking water. To this end, he presents a solution, the Nadi Filter, which has been distributed to over 350,000 families within Pakistan’s Sindh region and beyond.

He explores the Nadi Filter, how it works, and how it can meet the needs of providing safe drinking water practically and effectively.

Mr. John Ogundiran –
“Indoor Environmental Quality in Developing Tropical Contexts”

The second speaker, John Ogundiran, highlighted how people spend the majority of their time indoors. Hence, there is a need to ensure the quality of indoor environments, including air quality, temperature regulation, hygiene, noise insulation, and other factors, to mitigate health issues.

With a focus on tropical Africa, he discusses his research to this end, including the issues that contribute to the problem, the studies he has completed, and resulting discoveries.

Dr. Shalvaree Vaidya – “Beyond The Price Tag: Adaptive Reimbursement For Sustainable Rare Disease Treatment Access”

Following our first two compelling speakers, Dr. Shalvaree Vaidya rounded off the webinar by discussing how rare diseases affect around 300 million people across the world, and the lack of treatments provided despite this issue.

She highlights how pharmaceutical businesses rarely develop treatments for rare diseases owing to research and development costs, and how subsidising their creation through adaptive reimbursement can create a greater incentive for treatments to be created.
